Navigation in the Dardanelles Strait has been temporarily suspended in both directions due to adverse weather conditions and strong currents. The navigation control authority in the strait has announced a temporary closure of navigation from 13:30 local time. Ship captains intending to pass through the strait have been informed of the navigation closure via radio. Vessels waiting at the entrance of the strait from the Aegean and Marmara Seas are being held in anchorages. This measure has been taken due to adverse weather conditions, including strong winds, rain, and snow, affecting a significant part of Turkey, particularly the western and northwestern regions of the country. The Dardanelles Strait is a crucial maritime route connecting the Aegean Sea with the Marmara Sea and, through the Bosporus, with the Black Sea.
