In Belarus, it was reported that Lithuania has halted the processing of heavy truck passage. The Lithuanian side is not processing freight transport at the border with Belarus, but the reasons for this action have not been disclosed. This information was provided by the press service of the State Customs Committee.

Belarus confirmed that Lithuania has stopped processing heavy truck passage. “Attention to drivers of freight vehicles crossing the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. In the Lithuanian border checkpoints of Medininkai (adjacent to the Belarusian ‘Kamenniy Log’) and ‘Shalchininkai’ (‘Benyakoni’), the processing of freight transport has not been conducted since 09:00 (Moscow time) for exit from Belarus, and since 12:00 for entry into our region,” the official statement says. It emphasizes that the Lithuanian side has not provided information regarding the reasons for this decision.

According to the State Customs Committee, currently around 1,000 vehicles are trying to exit Belarus through ‘Kamenniy Log’ and ‘Benyakoni.’ The committee added that additional information will be provided regarding the resumption of traffic through the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. “We urge carriers crossing the Belarusian-Lithuanian border to take the current situation into account,” the State Customs Committee noted.

On November 18, the State Border Committee of Belarus reported that on Monday morning, 610 trucks had accumulated at the border with Lithuania, waiting to pass. According to the agency, since Saturday, the Lithuanian side has allowed only 27% of the normal number of vehicles to cross into its territory.

Since March 1, Lithuania has closed the border crossing in Lavorishkes (toward Polotsk) and Raigardas (toward Grodno) on the border with Belarus. Earlier, in the summer of 2023, Lithuania closed the crossing points in Tveriachus and Shumskas. Currently, only two road crossings remain operational.
